My quest to become one with my camera.

I always envisioned myself as a creative soul and photography has always been on my learn to do list. Two years ago, my husband (god love him) gave me a beautiful Nikon D5000 for Christmas. It took wonderful pictures but I felt like a fraud since I never took it off Auto mode.

This year I have made a promise to myself to become one with this camera. I took a one day Intro to DSLR course….to be honest if there was a test after I would have failed, and I only remember bits and pieces of it anyway.  So since I tend to obsess on things until I lose interest I have to make myself accountable and this is the reason for this blog!

You will have to be patient as not only am I just learning the functions of my camera, I am also new to blogging. Let the quest begin!

I am from Wales and live in Canada.

  1. Your shots so far look great. I look forward to seeing more! And I completely agree with you about the auto mode on the camera. I’m trying hard to keep mine off auto!

    • Ha you are way too kind as I was thinking the same thing when I saw yours. Most of the time I have no idea of what I’m doing and pretty much end up “winging it” so I’m hoping practice makes perfect or at least passable 🙂 I will look forward to seeing more of your work.

    • Yes I’m in Calgary. I did get married and had both our children in Peace River so it does have some good memories. I’m just learning photography and have so much to learn Im overwhelmed at times so I’ve decided to just take photos that appeal to me and not worry about the rules lol

    • Thank you so much for your kind words. I was overwhelmed at first but have cut myself some slack and now just experiment and take pictures I like. I probably break all the “rules” but have finally learned that a great photo is one I like lol. Good luck with your course and I’ll look forward to seeing more of your work 🙂

  5. I love the photographs I’ve seen so far. I think we are on the same quest, as I was given a digital camera 3 Christmases ago. I used auto and programmed settings most of the first 2 years. Recently I really started to experiment, as I’d begun to trust myself more and more when it came to ‘composition’. I’m posting my photographs on my photo blog also, looking for feedback and looking at as many other nature photography blogs as I can. I’d like to include a link to your blog on mine, if that’s alright with you. I look forward to visiting your blog again and seeing what you’ve posted.

    • Thank you so much for visiting, it is great to “meet” people with the same interests. I would be honoured to be added to your blog and will visit you often 🙂 You have a great outlook and a very handsome buddy, as you can probably tell I’m very much a dog lover lol
